This game is simple, but it still manages to be tons of (addictive) fun! Also, despite the seeming simplicity of the gameplay, it is not necessarily an easy game, and there are different power-ups, abilities, and so on which you can use to alter how you play. Then theres the added silly-fun factor of dressing Catbug up using a variety of accessories and costumes.
What is the gameplay? Basically, you fly Catbug through the level, using your finger on the screen to adjust altitude, while trying to pick up items to drop in portals for money and while trying to avoid crashing into anything. If you do crash into something, you lose a life, lose them all, and Catbug dies. You start with 3 lives, but its one of the things you can "level up," so you can eventually have more. The levels are really long, in terms of distance, and often the background and sometimes your speed changes based on I dont know what (yet). You do automatically get the "dive" ability, which is exactly what it sounds like, but as mentioned, there are others you can buy.
One thing I really appreciate immensely is that there are NO "in-app purchases!" This means if you want a certain power-up or costume, you have to earn it by playing, which is shocking, I know. As it seems like most apps now allow players to spend real money to get ahead in games, which I dont disagree with as long as its not necessary to spend additional money to advance, playing a game without in-app purchases is an enjoyable novelty.
The only thing I dont like is that when Catbug crashes into something (thus losing a life) or "dies," he screams, and then I feel terrible for hurting/killing Catbug! However, I think this just means I need to get better at the game.
